Training methodology and program implementation
(a) methodological framework
The program’s implementation methodology will follow the “Joint Learning” model where the training is essentially based on the trainee’s communication and interaction with the knowledge and resources and on the development channel of the desired knowledge, skills - abilities and attitudes through this communication. The well-known “the trainee goes to training” prevailing in the traditional educational models is transformed into “the training goes to the trainee” through the integrated educational model’s implementation.
The “Joint Learning” model is a model which combines all the traditional standards with the possibilities offered by IT and Communications Technologies. This model has essentially two dimensions, the Physical, which reflects the traditional standards and the Technological – Virtual which reflects the technological educational standards.
More specifically in the “Electronic Learning Tutor & Educational Content Creator”, distance learning with an asynchronous learning method (90 or 140 hours depending on the level) and in person meetings for advisory activities and practical training (10 hours - Physical) are included.
The training in the asynchronous remote part of the program is conducted online and through the asynchronous learning platform of Moodle, providing the trainee "autonomy", i.e. the possibility to study regardless of any limiting factors, such as the requirement of physical presence in a particular place and time. The program includes face to face sessions (of duration 5 hours each).
(b) Program Implementation in Levels
The program will be implemented in two distinct levels. The separation into two levels is associated the level of coursework and training workload that the trainees want to undertake.
On the first level trainees attend the vertebrae 1-4 regarding the theoretical part on the way in which the e-learning instructor operates and vertebrae 5-13 covering the Moodle platform’s use as Course Designers. Trainees do not participate in Moodle Pty Ltd.’s certification examinations for Moodle, do not need to deliver their work in Moodle and receive a Training Certificate from the University of Athens on the topic of “Electronic Learning Tutor & Educational Content Creator” and a certificate of attendance from WIDE Services on the subject of “Use of Moodle Platform as Course Designers”. These courses are addressed to those who just want to learn the Moodle platform’s basics as Course Designers and busy professionals who do not have the time to follow the Certification program.
On the second level the trainees in addition to the completion of the 1st level requirements, perform a total of 16 exercises and participate in certification examinations to obtain the internationally recognized certificate “Moodle Course Creator Certificate”. The final exam given in Greek, English, Spanish or German depending on the choice of candidate. The final exam is a 60 questions quiz in 60 minutes that the candidate must complete within 30 days from the time the training in all vertebrae is completed. There are a total of three attempts to succeed and every attempt has a six days delay from the next. Upon failure the candidate does not receive the MCCC certification, but only the UOA and WIDE Services participation certificate. On the second level the training is carried out at your home and at times convenient for you, without any physical presence or committed coursework. These courses are addressed to professionals who want to learn in depth all the platform’s tools as Course Designers as well as to be trained to offer high level courses to their trainees.
